Like every year, Dr. Nilsen (Eternal Nightmare) publish a free download compilation duly to his birthday. So he does that this year, too. The compilation “24 Years of Rebellion” is available since 30th of January 2011 under the slogan “The Rebirth of Art and Architecture” on www.years-of-rebellion.co.de.

Besides bands like “Nine Inch Nails” or “How to destroy Angels” you can find bands from the underground, like “Versus”, “Mach Fox” or “(((S)))” Furthermore there is also a “Best of”-version of the compilation, for its fifth anniversary, which contains an excellent choice of songs from all five compilations, which is also available on this site.

The mysterious Danish postpunk act (((S))) has spent a playfull summer in the studio recording 5 cover songs for a brand new release titled “The Deutsch EP”. On this record this ungoogable artist from the north pays his tribute to the 7inch single from way back when this media ruled the airwaves.

Each song appears in both in an english and a german version. Since Semtember 1st, the danish project (((S))) released one of these coversongs in english and german on every first of the month as exclusive download at Bandcamp ([1] [2] [3] [4]).

Finally the whole EP including 10 Tracks is available from 12/14/2010 onwards at iTunes and other well-known onlinestores.

Remember the wall that divided Berlin and rest of the world? Well if you don’t, you’d better listen to this (((S))) cover of David Bowie’s “Helden / Heroes”, that reminds us all of the times when dolphins and kisses shared the airwaves as anti cold war symbols.

Well, if you read the original lyrics, you ’ll notice what seemed to be a joyfull lovesong actually is a tragic story of a threesome gone wrong. A losers sad comment to a lost situation.

‘Phantom’, the eagerly awaited second CD by (((S))), appears like a liberation of an entire scene that seems frozen in 30 years, spreading spasmodically attached depression and often enough, it just seems unauthentic.

Already alike with his debut album “Ghost” inspired the Dane (((S))) listeners and critics, and was knighted by MICK MERCER as “Album of the Year 2009 “. But instead of resting on its laurels, the man behind the project that is “ungoogleable” and thus escapes any grid, creates a second album, coming out on 16/04/2010 at afmusic / Danse Macabre.

“Phantom” delivers all of the debut’s high expactations, and doesn’t need to fear the competition of big names. This is Wavepop in its best form. (((S))) don’t deny their roots in Wave with their undulating bass, steady drums, shimmering guitars and elegiac synths.

But (((S))) are refreshingly relaxed, surprisingly easy, fascinating, danceable, and so reminiscent of releases round millenium by NEW ORDER or the winking late work by Adam Ant. The playful arrangements, the skilful knack for melodies and hooks, not least the whispering vocals … everything is nice and relaxed looseness stereotypes in combination with a healthy dose of musical irony, makes tapping the toes or just rock the lips to sing along many a time.

‘Phantom’ is a first-class Wave album, simultaneously pure pop and after all, it’s just fun.
