The bulgarian band Voyvoda will release their second album “Iztok” on February 7th as a download, the vinyl issue will follow on 20th of April, 2012. Offered will be experimental sounds somewhere between post punk, cold wave and balkan komita folk.

As on the forerunner “The Confederacy” and the couple of EP’s, the journey goes deep into the history of the balkans, back to devotional rebels and their commanders (called Voyvodas). During the trip you’re able to hear stories about devotion, respect, honor, love’s strength, fratricide, sorrow, betrayal, hope and despair, coated into a structure of lyrics reminding of a weird combination between Nick Cave, Johnny Cash and Hristo Silyanov.

Voyvoda’s sound is a combination of post punk, minimal and cold wave of the 80s, stirring balkan folklore and majestic eastern-orthodox chants. “Iztok” will be available from February 7th 2012 on at afmusic and in all well-known download stores in high quality. Furthermore the band offers a “name your price”-download on bandcamp, while the first 30 persons, that pay 1 Euro or more will get a free promo CD of the album.

On Jamendo, Dogmazic and some more download platforms the album will be available as a free download.

The promising Swedish gothrocker MONUMENT release their debut EP “Teeth & Tails”, which offers traditional gothic rock at its best. Female vocals, dominant guitars, coated into the dark atmosphere of an early 80s gothrock release makes today’s goth rocker’s heart beat faster.

The vision of Monument took form in the summer of 2009, initially being a mere modest experimental recording endeavor by Henrik and Linda (the songwriters of the band), whose mutual interests in the rather odd spectrum of music brought them together. Teeth & Tails was recorded during the most dark, rainy and foggy west coast autumn/winter days. The drum machine on the Ep was utilized in order to obtain a 1980′s static mood to it, whereas the fx pedals on the trumpet set the tone. Yet, the concept soon got backed up by a full live band with Jonny on drums, Fischhaber on bass and Tim on trumpet, along Henrik on guitar and Linda on vocals, and gigs were played in the Gothenburg area.

Now the swedish gothrocker MONUMENT release their debut EP “Teeth & Tails” on afmusic to spread their unique dark and impressing tunes around the world. The EP will be available as a download from February 3rd on in every well-known download store and from March 2nd on as a 10″ vinyl release in the stores and via Bandcamp.

This is the first release of Chemical Waves, a project of Marco Cattani, a former member of the electronic band “Halo effect” (www.facebook.com/haloeffectband). This side project was born from desire to develop a different sound, the desire to experiment and explore a new musical form, a deep and intense sound running through dark atmospheres and obsessive rhythms. It’s a melancholy AND NOSTALGIC dark sound.

Chemical Waves is an open project involving in a next future different artists from other bands. All the tracks were written and arranged by Marco Cattani and Nicola Di Già made the mixing and recorded the guitars.

The first song called “The Origin” is a song, inspired by the evil nature of man, on a trip through the Jewish Museum in Berlin, from The Garden of Exile to Holocaust Tower.A place where silence is a lot of noise! The song is an obsessive and repetitive theme with a great atmosphere and impact, with a hypnotic guitar riff and an illuminated sampler of the voice of Carl Jung. The single contains an instrumental b-side called “The last straw”, a symbolic act in remembrance of all victims of human madness as well as a special version made by The Headcase.

It hasn’t been that long, when the high flyers of the Nightchild, consisting of Alexey Nightchild A. (vocals, guitar, songwriting, programming) and Olga Holy Cat (bass), released their third album “Some Stories And Thoughts”. Now the ukrainian couple already comes up with their new single “Dreammaster” for the upcoming album “The World Unseen, The World Unknown”.

The homonymous song appears twice on the download single – one time in the original version, featuring Salomea Wrona (Cabaret Grey) as guest singer and on the violin and one time in a remix of the german electro / synthpop band EGOamp. As a further goodie, the Nightchild offer also a coverversion of EGOamp’s “We are Freaks” in their typical goth rock vesture.

The single will sweeten the listener’s waiting time until the upcoming album is released and is available from January 20th on in a lot of download portals and on bandcamp.

After the success of her “Dreamville” EP (ZF Records), the exceptional solo artist Drunken C, aka Cecile Raynaud, releases her second EP called “Whisper” on Zorch Factory Records in cooperation with afmusic. H. Zombie is known on Zorch Factory as a member of Los Carniceros del Norte and being previously part of Naughty Zombies. He also keeps on expressing more personal musical feelings in his own solo project, in total freedom. This last EP shows him going into dark electro, aggrotech and industrial music and brilliantly respect the standard of the genre. It proves his talent as music writer and interpret! Hudge!

H. Zombie is a musician, songwriter and producer, member of two of the most relevant spanish deathrock / post punk bands, now in Los Carniceros del Norte and previously in Naughty Zombies. Also he has this solo project under his name, to explore different ways in music. His first ep “From Heaven to Hell”, relased in 2008, was a mixture of post punk, rock and electro psychobilly that had excellent reviews all over the world. Now takes one step forward his own exploration in music, with a new ep called “Mutation”, going into dark electro, aggrotech and industrial music.

Madame is a hard working musician and it does not looks like she never stops: she actually never stops! And with the time its music is getting better and better. This last release should convince you as this is the best work she ever released, more complex, better produced and featuring a wider variety of sounds from post-punk to dark apocalyptic folk. Oh did I forgot to mention? This record is also darker than ever! Good news isn’t it? Run!

Madame B is from France. She proposes a unique approach in its music, one could spell post punk but not only. Instinctively composed, the songs take their origins in a large variety of genres from post punk to noise rock and other more bizarre sounds. The sound is raw, the instruments changing and the emotion permanent. Many will surely try to define the music while other will simply let it play and feel it, what is surely the best option. Covered Faces is the Electro-Death-Punk project of Basque Country musician Peibol, a well known artist at Zorch Factory. After enjoying sharing songs on streaming portals with its new project during the past year, he finally decided to release a complete EP “Lobiep” here. Songs are mainly influenced by classical horror movies, road movies and video game music. They are based on psychokiller rhythms and sci-fi melodies and benefit from the special collaboration of Jessica White (Violet Tremors) and Sophie Nadaud (Madame B) on voice. Awfully danceable! Legal Notice: “There is a rumor that continual attention to this EP a high volume can seriously affect the loss of reality.”

“Sometimes it is hard to smile, sometimes it is hard to understand”

This line of a song of the second release of VERLUSTPRINZIP “Ganz nah am Licht” is a good mirror image for the whole album. Because it isn’t light fare, you have to get into the 9 songs and be ready for an unknown journey.

VERLUSTPRINZIP achieved to frame the charismatic speech of the singer with subtle sounds and tone collages much more intensive. Well-thought-out anti-arrangements and haunting lyric form a mood, like being in a building of cement and glass and a chill runs through the room. It seems, as the psychiatry isn’t far away, when you listen to the disturbing-vexing sounds of VERLUSTPRINZIP. But as psychotic the music is, it won’t let you go anymore!

Bernie Bandicoot is an Ukrainian gothic rock group which was formed in late 2009, with Bernie (vocals, guitars), Deamon (bass) and Adrian Cain (drums). Their style of music is very close to early 80?s dark post-punk, it offers some new wave and classic rock influences, especially on the guitar work. The overall mood is romantic and melacholic.

Barely Bernie Bandicoot celebrated the release of their debut album on afmusic, so the story of the band ends already. But this time not without giving their fans a little delicacy in the form of the EP “Lorraine”. The Listener gets offered 5 completely new songs, as much as an acoustic version of the song “Positive”. The band celebrates the farewell on October 4th with the EP available as a free download.

It’s been almost two years since defekt 86 released their album “Ultramarin”. Finally now there’s new material. Many may have thought, that there won’t be any further releases anymore, in return this release seems the more interesting.

The digital maxi-single “Suicide Hero” contains two songs:

The title track is a loud uptempo song with the obligatory driving bass, noisy guitars in the refrain and electronic sound effects, which strain your ears quite hard, from time to time. The song comes up very aggressive, like a yell after two years of silence of the band. By trend the music is rather directed into alternative rock, but still with the defekt 86-typical electronic sounds. Musically the band has grown away from possible idols and finds its own style much more. The lyrics of “Suicide Hero” describe the desperation, which arises, if you notice, that suicidal thoughts aren’t anything else than romantic and naive and don’t offer a way out at all – “you’ll never be a suicide hero”, which doesn’t come without an ironic undertone.

The second track “Mother Came” hardly could be a bigger contrast to the first song. Here the band strums much calmer tones. Spherical may sound banal, but it discribes the mood at best, originated by this song. Endless, almost seemingly hypnotic guitar melodies, underlined by classic synthetic sounds, carry the listener away. The song rises slowly until it finds its brute peak. Textical “Mother Came” is about losing childhood and the safety and the feeling of not being protected anymore, that cames with it.

Both songs show the fascinating bandwidth of defekt 86 between loud – agressive and calm – spherical and bring up the hunger for more. The digital single will be available as a free download and in all well known download stores from October 4th onwards.
