Just 4 months after their debut “internet album” Cyber Snake are back with a new EP. On “Apple of Destruction” the band continue their journey of musical contrasts they started before. The EP catches with a fine line between classic rock, industrial and metal.

Singer Muza tells the stories of a gloomy future, that is marked by wars and disasters and so the only basement to create something completely new is the unshakable faith in love.

After ten outstandingly successful years, THORA decided to go seperate ways. They once formed one of the most popular German Gothic-Metal-Formations, were the perennial hit in all subcultural magazines and succeeded in performing on the real big stages. After playing on concerts, such as the “Wave-Gotik-Treffen,” the legendary “Wacken” and conjoint gigs with HIM, the four-member band from Aachen disbanded.

As the Scene reflect on three brilliant albums and their fans – still growing in number – still reminisce about the band’s vigorous live shows, ex-THORA-frontman Tommy Tom is already busy producing new stuff. During just about five months, he has pulled a new album out of his hat – under the name GODEX – which has led to a great relief under THORA fans and it will excite quite a lot of future GODEX fans.

With “Gates Of The Universe”, he instantly solved the great “Dark-Rock” issue: when dark rocksongs apparenty become too catchy, they often lose their own special identity. Whereby even great names of this genre meet with complete failure, GODEX has succeeded instead with their debut. The band has created an album, which is self-reliant in sound and style but still teems with potential hit songs..

Multitalent Tommy Tom combines uncompromising riffs and atmospheric sequences with essentially untypical electronic and accustic sounds und consequently advances the Dark-Rock genre.

The title’s track begins with a lonely organ and ends in a musical token of love to the great melody. “Love Salvation” and “Melancholic Skies” are absolutely catchy and “Eagles” persuades with a powerful dynamic of impulsive electronic sounds and uncompromising riffs. “In Broad Daylight” combines the sound of Gothic-Rock with this irresistible morbidity of past songs by Nick Cave. “Dream With You” is pure heartache accompanied by the piano and “Big Wide Eyes” extremly sinister but still a really great rock ballad.

Dear THORA-fans: Every cloud has a silver lining. Dear Goth-Metal fans: Not every album unifies all strengths of a genre and still strikes new paths simultaneously.

AMADA originally was born as “Deabianca” at the end of summer 2008, at the banks of Bracciano Lake (Rome). The project’s primary scope is to give contents that fit musically into the member’s stylistic background (from dark to rock, metal and glam), and conceptually to thematics related to the initial band name.

In fact, the “Dea Bianca” (White Goddess) is the name of a fundamental test by the english poet and novelist Robert Graves, who represents a concept of hidden spiritualiy, of true poetry and dutiful anthropological regression. The initial line-up included Andrea (vocals), Daniele (guitar), Alessandro (drums) and Maurizio (bass). In May 2009, a second guitarist joined the band.

Followed up to Alessio’s entry and to the random composition of initial members’ names, AMADA acronym was born, that had an instant impact on all band members, so they finally decided to use it as the project’s new name.
With this complete formation, the band started its live activity, performing in summer 2009 on several festivals of the italian peninsula, as there were GRIF, Rome Art Events Festival, Tour Music Fest, Solidai 2009, Sottoilmetrò…and others.

Within just one year afmusic got off to a lightning start. The most innovative netlabel in Germany for Darkwave, Gothic and Independent Music celebrates on the label founder Falk Merten’s birthday their release-anniversary and distributes big presents to their fans – and that are 16 in number on this fiftieth publication.

All are on this Anniversary-Compilation “AFMUSIC #50″. Exactly one dozen of it are previously unreleased or recorded exclusively for this release. Beside many known afmusic-acts the sampler also presents an absolutely new band. Therefore, it is less a retrospective, than even more a look in the future of the label.

“AFMUSIC #50″ indicates not only the variety and versatility of the present releases, but also their high musical and artistic quality. LATRISTE – the newest member of the label family – immediately deliver with her first song a potential hit single. SMOKE FISH and EMERALD PARK contribute dark-coloured pop pearls of the grade 1A and CONFUSION IS NEXT are represented, just like LIGHT IN YOUR LIFE with a dreadfully nice ballad. Thereby the music ranges from Shoegaze to the sturdy Alternative rock.

SPINEFISH, (((S))) and ART NOIR provide for the dark sound-collage which hold together “AFMUSIC #50″ and lend a breathtaking atmosphere to the album.

In between the big potential of a lot of afmusic-bands flashes: The label-draught-horses ALL:MY:FAULTS cement with a never been there mixture of 8-bit Postmetal and spoken words their exceptional position as the most innovative German band of the scene. STROMBLE FIX’s “Dispirited” is more progressively Hybrid from Grunge and Deathrock, “Enjoy” of REPTILE71 is more sombre than the legendary “Drowning one” and CAMP Z present a modern version of the Sisters Of Mercy.

Crowning end of the completely successful afmusic-show is the “Smells Like Teen Spirit” cover, which is the most stretching cover with wide distance of this decade.

SONIC YOUTH have created the biggest what rock musicians can create: Nobody can assign them – they are neither a seventies, nor an eighties or nineties band. CONFUSION IS NEXT are not only named after one of their songs, they also smashed a similar way: On “The generation Of This Order” influences from the last 30 years melt to an independent and self-confident sound.

The quite talented quartet from Monza creates a monster from magic and melody of full masterpieces between post punk, post rock and post Metal. The PIXIES and MUDHONEY hit on the WHITE STRIPES and HÜSKER DÜ. In the most distant points of this tension-curve bulging confusion and clarity on each other. From time to time “The generation Of This Order” sounds lilke clean THE CURE songs – in other places the urgency of NIRVANA breaks through.

“Leaves” delivers the licking guitar-thunderstorms which ROBERT SMITH is dabbling in for many years. “Anemones & Elephants” begins like a METALLICA classic and ends in a Noise chaos. “Lichens On The Lich Gate” is riding the emotional roller coaster of JESUS THE & MARY CHAIN and EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY. In the sum this new album of the Italians is a return to the glorious days of the alternative rock, back off the time when ‘alternative’ still meant ‘different’.

Already one year ago LIGHT IN YOUR LIFE pricked up the ears, at that time still under the name SLEAZY ROMANCE. In their native country the band then already was clebrated by insiders as Sweden’s answer to INTERPOL: Post punk meets post rock on the zenith of the tension curve between Shoegaze and Show – psychedelic pop pearls in the sphere of influence of EDITORS, ELEPHANT and ESKOBAR.

The self-titled debut album will be released on CD at Danse Macabre and digital at afmusic.

Warning! 8-bit attack! Or: What happens if an unspeakable guitar-riff smashes a Commodore 64? When in singing growlings and screamings hunt the clean parts? If a band leads Industrial-Rock to new horizons?

all:my:faults are back again! Precisely one year ago their successful album “neo.NøiR” (more than 100,000 downloads) cleared the way on which they go on now obliviously. It is a new way – somewhere between ‘Ministry’ and ‘Enter Shikari’, passing the ‘Deathstars’ and ‘Front Line Assembly’. And this sounds phase-wise, as if Trent Reznor got on Welle:Erdball. Above all, however, it sounds like the most thrilling German Industrial rock band.

This lies, on the one hand, with the special style mix and independent song structures and on the other hand with the variable song and polished Lyrics. Leadsinger Steve:Kiai has something to say and he does: Where he decluttered love lives on “neo.NøiR”, society and mass media are now on the plate – mercilessly devoured in “Taste these forbidden fruits”.

”Vergiftet” is a Kleingeldprinzessin-coversong. And this loan from the Berlin singer-songwriter’s scene is not the only proof that all:my:faults have stripped all blinders: Their “8-bit Industrial Metal” is post-modern music in perfection and belongs to the most unusual the scene offers. It’s the needle in a haystack, which one has been searched up to now between Metal, Industrial and Electro for pop in vain. A Nine-Inch-needle which even in the biggest stable stings itself in the eye.

“first.aid.killed.the.jerboa” contains only two songs – but they have it in themselves. They are metallic Postcore monsters in an 8-bit garment. They are adrenalin for the scene and appetizer for the new album. The follower from “neo.NøiR” is champing at the bit. And bares the teeth.

Dunkle, melodische Rockalben, die den melancholischen Pathos des Gothic Rock mit dem harten Drive des Metal vermischen, gibt es derzeit viele. Die Aachener Band Thora ist so ein Glücksfall und wurde zu Recht von der Presse oft als die Gothic Metal Entdeckung des Jahres bezeichnet.
