In 2008 the berlin-based band DER ZERFALL was formed and released a self-titled EP in 2009 on afmusic, which is still available as a download. The band consisted of musicians of the bands REBENTISCH, DAS MONC, CABO DE GATA and VERLUSTPRINZIP and played a lot of great concerts in the berlin and rostock area.

The members were Sven Rebentisch [Vocals, Lyrics, Keyboards], Ragnar Kopp [Guitar, Bass], Jens Bohm [Bass] and Mike Lutz [Drums]. In the year 2011 the band was disbanded. All musicians now concentrate on their new musical challenges. So Andreas Kupsch, Jens Bohm and Sven Rebentisch will do in september 2011, to record the new tracks for the upcoming REBENTISCH-album ‘Empathie’ in the studio.

VERLUSTPRINZIP is much more than just music…it’s a construction of sound, expressions and art in the form of pictures and projections, which impresses with a very specific and distinct sound, that cannot be pigeonholed. Challenging lyrics meet subtle sounds and terrific basslines that are piled up high with vast effects.

VERLUSTPRINZIP takes you on a sound journey.

The very beginning happened in a living-room in Leipzig as Andrés one-man project. After endless hours in which ideas and song-structures were created, again and again tweaking the songs, he finalised a decision: kindred spirits wanted to contribute to the completion. With Jens, bassist of a band named DER ZERFALL from Berlin, an analog instrument improved the sound of VERLUSTPRINZIP. As a result of the idea of not creating just a pure instrumental project, Timo, a charismatic lyricist, was won over and became enthusiastic about the music. First recordings were very promising, and together the band got to the heart of conceptions.

The first album, named “Lyrische Konstruktionen” (“lyrical constructions”), is a mixture of lyric, electronical music and experimental sounds. It will be released on November, 12th 2010 as a free download under Creative Commons License. Moreover a CDR version of a limited edition, that comes in a box with some digital imagine work – pictures, taken and edited by the singer – is available on the Bandcamp-website.

Another year draws to a close and the ubiquitous Christmas Terror is superimposed over the next few days, probably back everything we loved and important. At this point, however, you deserve our thanks for your great support for afmusic. Because of your help, we were able to set some accents in the often boring music business, and we are very proud of more than half a million downloads of the songs of our artists. And that’s why we have here in December – beside the new album “Mental Straitjacket” by Camp Z – more free downloads at afmusic.

MAV

MAV have just formed back in 2008, in the quiet Modena (Italy). They came together down on ads that have run in the local press. Quickly, their meetings became very productive and the boys began to cover some old eighties-songs. The aim was finding their own way, without forgetting the old days. The essence of it is a mixture of very dark Electrowave, a little bit of Futurepop, with a lot of 80′s-atmosphere that gets out of hand into Ambient and Gothic.

Their EP “Enter” was published in 2009 as a free download at Zorch Factory Records, and a short time later on CD at Danse Macabre. On the download single “Il Crepuscolo Della Coscienza” there is now also a B-side, a cover version of The Cure song “The Kiss”.

REBENTISCH

Rebentisch want to give their fans a way to escape from the rampaging Christmas terror and offers some rare demo tapes and rehearsal recordings as a compilation for free download. Interesting are the differences to the recordings that made it officially on this year’s album “Herz zerrissen” or onto the EP by Der Zerfall.

In November 2009 Sven Rebentisch also stood again in front of the camera. In collaboration with LEA LOUISE MARSHALL, which already did the current Rebentisch clip “Angst”, a new video for the song “Danach” from the current album “Herz zerrissen” will be recorded. This time contribute a variety of extras in the clip, that lends the necessary trash-flair which Sven would love to have for this one. So the fans may be very curious to see what the new year at REBENTISCHS’ home brings us.

ON WAVE

It’s been a while since we published 2 EP’s of the russian indie band On Wave on afmusic. After “Vodka Bear Matreshka” in August last year and the follower “Special Thanks” in January 2009, it became a little quiet around Ilya Romanenkov, Misha Proskurin, Maksim Sushkov and their new drummer Marak Gvozdovsky. Though means quiet not sitting around idly and so there are now 15 new tracks, the full debut album “Ginger”. True to their motto ‘We are doing Indie. For You” as a free download. Purchase a version of the album will be available from mid-January in all major download stores and in the MP3 shop of afmusic too.

THE FORCED OSCILLATIONS

Meanwhile, there are 3 releases of the band from Moscow on afmusic. Founded in 2005 as a duo the transformation of German New Wave and EBM-bands influenced songs towards bass-heavy and atmospheric post-punk took its place. Before there is new material of the band, we have “Garlics” promo compilation for you as a free-download. In addition to the 3 EP’s there are some more recent live recordings on it. Anyone who didn’t took notice of The Forced Oscillations until now can get a complete impression of the bands’ work and their experimentation on this way.

In July 2009 the band DER ZERFALL (Side-Projects of REBENTISCH and CABO DE GATA) produced a TV-Production, among the rest, on the subjects Freedom Of Speech, Ego-Shooter (Killergames) and youth in Germany, together with the filmmaker and journalist Dr. Rainer Fromm.

The report is estmated for being broadcasted in august on ZDF and will be published later as Podcast on all known video-portals.

Wave guitars and “Fliehende Stürme” keys, dark punk-tunes, somewhere between EA80 and Blitzkid, Christian Death and Super Heroins. The berlin city slickers’ DER ZERFALL (the decay) debut is a feast for dark punk fans.

DER ZERFALL don’t need that much name dropping, leaving there own unique footsteps on the path of depro punk and beyond. Yes, you could call the selftitled debut a cross between 45 Grave and The Cure’s “Pornography”, but Der ZERFALL is so much more. It’s fresh and unique. Imagine a rollercoaster-ride….warm clean waveparts…slowly the rollercoaster goes up…you relax, knowing what will come…but you never know when DER ZERFALL will spin you around and push your head back into the seat with a punkexplosion like a thunderstorm!

Sometimes a “Simon Gallup memorial bassline” drives the sound (“Ich Sein”), then a thunder of samples and effekts blows you away (“Die Vision”), then again “RUDIMENTARY PENI-Chaos shines through. Last but not least Sven Rebentisch’s sharp, angry, acrid voice is like the dot on the i. The truth needs to be spit out-into your face!

With their first five furious songs DER ZERFALL show their fellow dark-punk musicians where the rubber hits the road.

- Ausblick Dezember 2008/Januar 2009 -

Da ist das Jahr nun fast rum, aber einige Veröffentlichungen haben wir dann doch noch zu vermelden. Noch im Dezember werden wir EPs von The Glass Spider (Industrial Rock) und The Forced Oscillations veröffentlichen. Mehr Infos dazu im nächsten Fanletter.
