Joy Division, The Cure and Bauhaus, that’s what most of the Post Punk and Guitar-Wave-Genre bands refer to. Pretty often it’s just a rehash of a sadly bygone era that has no rival even today.
“A Different Place”, the debut album of Colognes Darkrockers LOTUS FEED now are going to revive those good old times with a new livery. Several voices already say that some established 80′s bands would give everything to publish such a wonderful album nowadays.
It took fifteen years until finally the band came to light from a shadowy existence. Their first steps include being the support-act for bands like Charles De Goal, The Chameleons Vox and B-Movie. The current longplayer will do the rest for sure.
LOTUS FEEDs first work – an album with ten songs – contains all that is needed for a perfect album. Up-Tempo dance floor fillers like “Trouble” and “Room With A View” alternate with future wave-classics such as “Manner Of Painting” and epic tracks like “End Of Time”. The songs originate in one and a half decades of band history with a permanently changing lineup. But only the latest lineup, which consists of four guys from Cologne – was able to arrange and produce the songs as a coherent album. This may take fifteen years.
A pearl among Post-Punk-releases that should not be missing in no record cabinet. And we may hope for the next album to follow on the recent one a little faster.
